VMUX-SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE(SHELF ARRANGEMENT)

SYSTEM ARCHITECTURE

    SHELF ARRANGEMENT

VMX-0100 shelf fitted with a motherboard has a provision for 14slots. The slots are numbered 1 to 14 as seen from left to right. The slot configuration is as under:

Slot 1               Power Supply ( P S U ) Card

Slot 2               Redundant Power Supply (P S U) Card

Slot 3               T M E Card

Slot 4               Loop Protection (L P C) Card  (Optional)

Slot 5               Teleprinter (T P C)/User Interface Card

Slot 6-14          User Interface Cards

The Teleprinter Card (T P C) can only be placed in slot 5 which can otherwise be used for user interface card if T P C Card is not used. Most user interface cards provide four VF/Data ports and therefore a maximum of 40 VF/Data ports can be accommodated in a VMX-0100 (without T PC Card). Out of which only 30 can be configured at a time (excluding T P C). The slots 6-14 can have any of the available user interface cards. VMX-0100 automatically detects the presence and type of the interface card available in a particular slot. The front view of the VMX-0100 system is shown in the figure.
